Floating Candles
Imagine that you are having a party, and want to create dramatic lighting effects for your guests to enjoy. You have some decorative lights, but want that distinctive flickering effect provided by candles, and sometime even more dramatic. Floating candles are one way to provide a unique, ever changing lighting effect.
Like other types of candles, floaters will burn for hours and provide a soft, flickering glow of light that creates a pleasant atmosphere. Unlike other types of candles, they have to be a particular shape in order to float. Many other types of candles come with some sort of container; tealights have a thin metal coating and jar candles are enclosed in glass. Floating candles are just wax and wick. They are also shaped differently than other candles. They have to be wider and shorter so they will be stable. They should also be wider at the top than at the bottom, creating the necessary shape for flotation. Some are a simple circle, others have ribbed edges creating a flower-like appearance. Floaters are available in a range of colors, to match other accessories or the color of you bathroom. They also come in some scents, to add a pleasing aroma to the room as well.
You can put them in a variety of containers, depending on how much space you have and where you want to put them. A large bowl filled with water and half a dozen floaters makes a good centerpiece for a dining table. Smaller bowls with a few make good accents, and you can even put a few inches of water and twenty floaters in your bathtub for special occasions.
